Don’t Miss Your Turn Trying to Fix Someone Else’s Road

I had a dream that felt like a warning—for me and maybe for you too.

I was driving through the woods on a sunny day, headed toward my next turn. I knew the turn was coming. I knew it mattered. But someone in the backseat started talking about a problem in her life—something that made no sense. I got distracted trying to help her figure it out.
Next thing I knew, I missed my turn.
The clouds rolled in, the bridge ahead was out, and I was driving straight into rushing water.

I tried to hold on, tried to stop the damage, but I ran out of strength. Then I saw myself standing on the side of the road, watching the truck go under. And my first thought wasn’t “Am I okay?” It was, “How am I going to explain this to my husband?”

Let me say this gently but directly: Some of us are losing traction in life trying to explain away the consequences of being distracted by other people’s confusion.

You knew your turn was coming. You knew where you were supposed to go. But you looked back too long, and now you’re off-course, soaking in mess you didn’t cause and trying to justify how you got here.

Here’s the good news: You survived, you’re still standing. And, lucky for you, God wastes nothing—not even detours or near drownings.

But let this be a reminder: Keep your eyes on your road. Listen to the Holy Spirit, not the chaos in the backseat. And when He says turn—turn.
