Messages from the Secret Place
A few weeks ago, God gave me a dream.
I was driving down a sunny road through the woods, heading toward a turn I knew was crucial for my journey. But I missed it. Why? Because I was distracted by a friend in the backseat telling me something that made no sense. By the time I looked up, my turn was behind me. The road ahead turned dangerous, the bridge was out, and the peaceful day shifted into chaos.
In the dream, God showed me: She was a distraction in my backseat.
It was a warning—clear, but at the time, I couldn’t wrap my head around it.

The Real-Life Replay
Fast forward to the Unstoppable You Conference in Atlanta.
I had invited a friend to play a role in the conference. She was even on the program at the beginning of the day. We gave her extra time, but she didn’t show. I delayed the program for her—still nothing. I had to adjust on the fly, moving someone else into her spot.
The conference went on. God was moving.
By the time the last speaker, Jennifer Foxworthy, took the stage, I’d almost forgotten about the friend’s absence. Jennifer has an incredible teaching about “Who’s in the boat with you.” She breaks it down into three roles—the rower, the driller, and the sleeper. (You’ve got to be in the room to experience it!)
But when she got to the sleeper, my phone buzzed.
It was the friend.
Her message?
“I’m sorry, I slept through everything.”
Mind you—this is less than an hour before the entire conference was over.
And in that moment, the dream came rushing back.
God’s warning. The distraction. The missed turn. The backseat conversation.
Only now—it wasn’t symbolic. It was literal.
She had literally slept through the assignment she was supposed to carry.
What God Was Saying
It wasn’t about judging her. It was about recognizing my own pattern.
I had delayed the program for her, adjusted for her absence. Tried to keep her in the space God hadn’t equipped her to steward.
And the truth hit me hard:
When God shows you someone is a distraction, don’t invite them into your driver’s seat—or even your backseat.
Sometimes the person in your backseat isn’t malicious. They’re just not awake to the moment you’re in. And no matter how much you want them to come along, they will not see the urgency, the cost, or the weight of the journey the same way you do.
3 Takeaways from the Confirmation
→ God Warns Before He Confirms.
When He gives you a dream, vision, or word—write it down. You may not understand it now, but you’ll need it later.
→ Stop Delaying for People Who Aren’t Ready.
You’re holding up your own progress waiting for someone to value what you value.
→Not Everyone Assigned to Your Life is Assigned to Your Moment.
Some people are part of your story, but not this chapter.
The dream was a warning. The conference was the confirmation.
My prayer for you is this: If God has already shown you who or what is a distraction, believe Him the first time.
Ask God:
“Lord, where have I delayed my turn for someone You’ve already shown me is not part of my assignment right now?”
The cost of ignoring the warning is always greater than the cost of letting go.
With Love,
Nesha
